# Installation

export const vendor_0 = "SAP SuccessFactors"

### Prerequisites

Before continuing, ensure you have the following:

* A valid TechWolf contract and access to a **live TechWolf tenant**.

* An SAP SuccessFactors environment with **Talent Intelligence Hub**
  implemented.

  <Note>
    Enabling [Talent Intelligence Hub <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />
    ](https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_SUCCESSFACTORS_PLATFORM/e15477b0414b4b25b224a97ad52c12ec/ec345d8396d64bd0936a3cc8280098e0.html)
    activates the Attributes Library. This adds supports for using TechWolf
    skills in your SuccessFactors environment.
  </Note>

* Access to the TechWolf
  [SFTP server <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/reference/sftp/sftp)
  to host the integration files, with a password or an SSH key. See
  [How To: Add an SSH Key to the Integration Center <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/datasource-integrations/sap-standard-input-integration/how-to-add-ssh-key-integration-center).

* An SAP support case to
  [whitelist the TechWolf SFTP server <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/datasource-integrations/sap-standard-input-integration/how-to-whitelist-sap-sftp-server).

* An SAP SuccessFactors user with the permissions listed in
  [Integration Center Permissions](#integration-center-permissions), required to
  set up the import and export schedules in the Integration Center. Preferably,
  this is a dedicated technical user.

## SAP SuccessFactors Configuration

TechWolf has already pre-configured some parts of the integration. The following
ZIP archive contains the necessary files that will be used in the subsequent
steps to configure the integration in SAP SuccessFactors.

<Card title="Required files" icon="download" href="https://techwolf-docs-public-access.s3.eu-west-3.amazonaws.com/integrations/skill-sync-integrations/sap-skills-taxonomy-sync-required-files.zip" horizontal="true">
  Required files for the SAP Skills Taxonomy Sync Integration
</Card>

The setup in SAP SuccessFactors consists of loading, configuring and scheduling
a collection of import and export integrations in the Integration Center.

### Integration Center Permissions

Integration Center schedules run under the account of the user that creates
them. Ensure this user has all permissions listed below before setting up the
schedules.

<Note>
  We recommend setting up the schedules with a dedicated technical user
  rather than a named administrator account. Schedules created by a named
  account break when that account is deactivated. An administrator creates
  the technical user, grants it the permissions below, and proxies as it
  while creating the schedules. Setting up the schedules directly as an
  administrator with these permissions also works.
</Note>

The account used to set up the schedules must have at least the following
permissions:

* Under `User Permissions` → `Talent Intelligence Hub`:

  | Permission | Access |
  | - | - |
  | Attribute | View, Edit, Create |
  | Attribute Type | View, Edit, Create |
  | Growth Portfolio | View, Edit, Create, Edit Proficiency Level, Mark as passionate |
  | Proficiency Level Scale | View, Edit, Create |
  | Tag | View, Edit, Create |

* Under `Administrator Permissions`:

  | Category | Permission |
  | - | - |
  | Admin Center Permissions | Read Execution Manager Events |
  | Admin Center Permissions | Read Execution Manager Event Payload or Event Report |
  | Manage Integration Tools | Allow Admin to Access OData API through Basic Authentication |
  | Manage Integration Tools | Access to Integration Center |
  | Manage Security Center | Access to Other Keys: View |
  | Manage Talent Intelligence Hub Settings | View Manage Talent Intelligence Hub Settings |
  | Manage Talent Intelligence Hub Settings | Import/Export Talent Intelligence Hub and Growth Portfolio Data |
  | Manage Talent Intelligence Hub Settings | Enable Growth Portfolio |
  | Manage Talent Intelligence Hub Settings | Change Proficiency Level Scale |
  | Manage Talent Intelligence Hub Settings | Growth Portfolio Rating Precedence |
  | Metadata Framework | Admin access to MDF OData API |

SAP requires a target population for the Growth Portfolio permission, and target
criteria for the Attribute Type and Tag permissions. Define these to cover all
data in scope of the integration.

### Import and Export Schedules

The schedules of these integrations must align with the SAP Skills Taxonomy Sync
operations that run on TechWolf's side: schedule the export tasks at **00:30 UTC
daily** and the import tasks starting at **02:00 UTC daily**.

<Note>
  The **Start Time** field in the Integration Center's **Scheduling** step
  expects a date and time in your local timezone. Convert the UTC times above
  to your timezone when filling in the schedules.
</Note>

1. **Create the TechWolf Attribute Import Schedule** Follow the steps in
   [How To: Load Import Integration Definitions <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/datasource-integrations/sap-standard-input-integration/how-to-load-import-integration-definitions)
   to create a new integration definition that will load the TechWolf skills as
   attributes into SAP SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table below when
   setting up the integration definition.

   | **Configuration Item** | **Value** |
   | - | - |
   | **Integration Definition** | `techwolf_attribute_import_definition.icd` |
   | **File Name Prefix** | `TechWolfAttributeImport` |
   | **Date Suffix Format** | `yyyyMMdd` |
   | **File Folder** | `/tih/imports/attributes` |
   | **Occurs** | Daily |
   | **Start Time** | 02:00 UTC |

   **Base ICD**:
   [Talent Intelligence Hub Attribute Import <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](https://api.sap.com/package/SuccessFactorsTalentIntelligenceHubAdminImportTemplates/icd)

2. **Create the TechWolf Attribute Export Schedule** Follow the steps in
   [How To: Load Export Integration Definitions <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/datasource-integrations/sap-standard-input-integration/how-to-load-export-integration-definitions)
   to create a new integration definition that will export the SAP counterparts
   of the previously loaded in TechWolf skills out of SAP SuccessFactors. Use
   the values from the table below when setting up the integration definition.

   | **Configuration Item** | **Value** |
   | - | - |
   | **Integration Definition** | `techwolf_attribute_export_definition.icd` |
   | **File Name Prefix** | `TechWolfAttributeExport` |
   | **Date Suffix Format** | `yyMMddHHmmssZ` |
   | **File Folder** | `/tih/exports/attributes` |
   | **Occurs** | Daily |
   | **Start Time** | 00:30 UTC |

   **Base ICD**:
   [Talent Intelligence Hub Attribute Export <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](https://api.sap.com/package/SuccessFactorsTalentIntelligenceHubAdminExportTemplates/icd)

3. **Create the TechWolf Tag Import Schedule** Follow the steps in
   [How To: Load Import Integration Definitions <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/datasource-integrations/sap-standard-input-integration/how-to-load-import-integration-definitions)
   to create a new integration definition that will load the TechWolf skill
   clusters as tags into SAP SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table below
   when setting up the integration definition.

   | **Configuration Item** | **Value** |
   | - | - |
   | **Integration Definition** | `techwolf_tag_import_definition.icd` |
   | **File Name Prefix** | `TechWolfTagImport` |
   | **Date Suffix Format** | `yyyyMMdd` |
   | **File Folder** | `/tih/imports/tags` |
   | **Processing Folder** | `/tih/processed/tags` |
   | **Occurs** | Daily |
   | **Start Time** | 02:00 UTC |

   **Base ICD**:
   [Talent Intelligence Hub Tag Import <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](https://api.sap.com/package/SuccessFactorsTalentIntelligenceHubAdminImportTemplates/icd)

4. **Create the TechWolf Tag Export Schedule** Follow the steps in
   [How To: Load Export Integration Definitions <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/datasource-integrations/sap-standard-input-integration/how-to-load-export-integration-definitions)
   to create a new integration definition that will export the SAP tag
   counterparts of the previously loaded in TechWolf skill clusters out of SAP
   SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table below when setting up the
   integration definition.

   | **Configuration Item** | **Value** |
   | - | - |
   | **Integration Definition** | `techwolf_tag_export_definition.icd` |
   | **File Name Prefix** | `TechWolfTagExport` |
   | **Date Suffix Format** | `yyMMddHHmmssZ` |
   | **File Folder** | `/tih/exports/tags` |
   | **Occurs** | Daily |
   | **Start Time** | 00:30 UTC |

   **Base ICD**:
   [Talent Intelligence Hub Tag Export <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](https://api.sap.com/package/SuccessFactorsTalentIntelligenceHubAdminExportTemplates/icd)

5. **Create the TechWolf Attribute-Tag Mapping Import Schedule** Follow the
   steps in
   [How To: Load Import Integration Definitions <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/datasource-integrations/sap-standard-input-integration/how-to-load-import-integration-definitions)
   to create a new integration definition that will load the mapping between
   TechWolf skills (attributes in SAP) and TechWolf skill clusters (tags in SAP)
   into SAP SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table below when setting up
   the integration definition.

   For optimal operation, this integration only runs after the related runs of
   the Attribute Import (Step 1) and the Tag Import (Step 3) are completed.
   Therefore, the time of day of the `Start Time` of the schedule should be set
   to be some time (e.g. one hour) after the time of day of those import
   schedules.

   | **Configuration Item** | **Value** |
   | - | - |
   | **Integration Definition** | `techwolf_attribute_tag_mapping_import_definition.icd` |
   | **File Name Prefix** | `TechWolfAttributeTagMappingImport` |
   | **Date Suffix Format** | `yyyyMMdd` |
   | **File Folder** | `/tih/imports/attribute_tag_mapping` |
   | **Processing Folder** | `/tih/processed/attribute_tag_mapping` |
   | **Occurs** | Daily |
   | **Start Time** | 03:00 UTC |

   **Base ICD**:
   [Talent Intelligence Hub Attribute Tag Mapping Import <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](https://api.sap.com/package/SuccessFactorsTalentIntelligenceHubAdminImportTemplates/icd)

6. **Create the TechWolf Attribute Text Import Schedule** Only required when
   skills are synchronized in more than one language. Follow the steps in
   [How To: Load Import Integration Definitions <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/datasource-integrations/sap-standard-input-integration/how-to-load-import-integration-definitions)
   to create a new integration definition that will load the translated skill
   names and descriptions into SAP SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table
   below when setting up the integration definition.

   This integration only adds translations to attributes that already exist, so
   the time of day of its `Start Time` should be set to be some time (e.g. one
   hour) after that of the Attribute Import (Step 1).

   | **Configuration Item** | **Value** |
   | - | - |
   | **Integration Definition** | `techwolf_attribute_text_import_definition.icd` |
   | **File Name Prefix** | `TechWolfAttributeTextImport` |
   | **Date Suffix Format** | `yyyyMMdd` |
   | **File Folder** | `/tih/imports/attribute_texts` |
   | **Processing Folder** | `/tih/processed/attribute_texts` |
   | **Occurs** | Daily |
   | **Start Time** | 03:00 UTC |

   **Base ICD**:
   [Talent Intelligence Hub Attribute Import <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](https://api.sap.com/package/SuccessFactorsTalentIntelligenceHubAdminImportTemplates/icd)

7. **Create the TechWolf Attribute Text Export Schedule** Only required when
   skills are synchronized in more than one language. Follow the steps in
   [How To: Load Export Integration Definitions <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](/integrations/datasource-integrations/sap-standard-input-integration/how-to-load-export-integration-definitions)
   to create a new integration definition that will export the translations held
   in SAP SuccessFactors back out. Use the values from the table below when
   setting up the integration definition.

   | **Configuration Item** | **Value** |
   | - | - |
   | **Integration Definition** | `techwolf_attribute_text_export_definition.icd` |
   | **File Name Prefix** | `TechWolfAttributeTextExport` |
   | **Date Suffix Format** | `yyMMddHHmmssZ` |
   | **File Folder** | `/tih/exports/attribute_texts` |
   | **Occurs** | Daily |
   | **Start Time** | 00:30 UTC |

   **Base ICD**:
   [Talent Intelligence Hub Attribute Export <Icon icon="link" iconType="solid" />](https://api.sap.com/package/SuccessFactorsTalentIntelligenceHubAdminExportTemplates/icd)

<Note>
  The ICDs provided by TechWolf are based on the default integration definitions by SAP, as indicated by the **Base ICD** mentioned.
  These have been pre-filled with some necessary values such as the file name prefix for your convenience, to ease the setup process.
  TechWolf is committed to keeping these integration definitions up to date with the latest SAP SuccessFactors releases, but cannot guarantee full alignment with the SAP SuccessFactors release schedule.
  Should issues arise when using these integration definitions, please contact [support@techwolf.ai](mailto:support@techwolf.ai).
</Note>

<Note>
  To make sure the skills added to the Attributes Library are recognized by the intelligent systems within SAP,
  the **Standardization Process** must be executed for these skills.
  This is a manual process that must be executed by your SAP administrator.

  It is not process-critical for *all* skills to be standardized,
  so the standardization process can be executed on a periodic basis,
  less frequently than the daily synchronization of the Attributes Library, e.g. quarterly.
  It is highly recommended to execute the standardization process at least once after the
  initial setup of the integration and initial population of the Attributes Library.
</Note>

## TechWolf Configuration

The TechWolf tenant will be configured by TechWolf itself.

1. TechWolf adds TechWolf API credentials with correct scopes to have access to
   the TechWolf API and links that TechWolf tenant to the SAP SuccessFactors
   tenant.
2. TechWolf enables the schedule to create and consume the SAP SuccessFactors
   Attributes Library import and export files, respectively, on TechWolf's side.
3. TechWolf configures the languages the skills are synchronized in. `en_US` is
   always synchronized; additional languages can be added on request, and
   require the Attribute Text schedules from Steps 6 and 7.

## Routing Through an API Gateway

If your organisation fronts the {vendor_0} APIs with an API gateway, the
integration can call the gateway instead of the vendor host directly. Two
settings are available, both configured by TechWolf together with the
credentials:

* **Custom URL**: instead of the vendor API URL, share the gateway URL that
  proxies it. The integration keeps appending the same vendor API paths to it,
  so the gateway must forward requests to {vendor_0} unchanged.
* **Custom headers**: any number of extra HTTP headers (for example an API key
  or a correlation ID required by the gateway) that are sent on every request
  the integration makes.

<Note>
  Both settings are pass-through only. TechWolf sends the values as configured
  and does not perform any gateway-specific authentication, signing, or token
  refresh; the gateway is expected to forward the integration's own
  credentials to {vendor_0}. Reserved headers (e.g. `Authorization`,
  `Content-Type`) are managed by the integration and cannot be set as custom
  headers.
